A good jamdani or katan is an heirloom. Treat it well and it will outlive all of us.
- Dry clean the first time you wash it.
- Never hang heavy katan for long — fold it.
- Wrap sarees in muslin, not plastic.
- Refold along new lines every few months so the creases do not tear.
- Keep naphthalene away from zari; use neem leaves or cloves instead.
For everyday cotton, a gentle hand wash and drying in the shade keep the colour from fading.
